Transmissible venereal tumour (TVT) is a naturally occurring tumour that is sexually transmitted from one dog to another. TVT is usually seen in young, intact (non-neutered) dogs. It is life-threatening if left untreated.
Treatment is sterilisation (which also serves as benign population control), followed by 3-6 weeks of chemotherapy.
From the first dog camp in 2013, Dogs Of Gaya has been organising volunteer vets. to perform surgery, and then delivering the follow-up course of chemotherapy.
